Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, recently opened up about his remarkable journey to the leadership of the tech company. Satya Nadella spoke about his career journey with Microsoft during an interview at the Axel Springer Award ceremony, held in Berlin.

Satya Nadella joined Microsoft in 1992 and was initially working on the development of Windows NT, a Microsoft Windows personal operating system, which is for users and companies that need advanced functions. Before joining Microsoft, Satya Nadella was a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems. Satya Nadella also held leadership roles in both enterprise and consumer businesses across the company. During the interview, Nadella also mentioned Steve Ballmer, then Microsoft“s CEO. During the departure of Ballmer from Microsoft, one of the board members inquired if Satya Nadella aspired to be the CEO. “Only if you want me to be the CEO,” Nadella gave a surprising response.

Satya Nadella said that his interaction with Steve Ballmer, who advised him to remain authentic, marked the start of a new era for software giant Microsoft. Mr Nadella”s appointment as CEO in 2014 is an important chapter in Microsoft”s history, as he is the third CEO since Microsoft”s inception in 1975, succeeding Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates. Mr Nadella”s leadership has led to various strategic shifts and AI-driven products. It should also be noted that Microsoft”s market capitalization in 2014 was around $300 billion. However, Microsoft”s market capitalization had increased to over $2 trillion by September 2021.
