In the quiet town of Kerala’s Kayamkulam, two lifelong friends shared a bond so deep, it endured even in the face of tragedy. On November 21, the entire region in the south of the Alappuzha district was sad as they got to know about death of two long friends from MSM College, Khadeeja Kutty and Syamala.
Khadeeja, who stayed in Krishnapuram, and Syamala from Kandalloor, were more than just friends — they were companions since their college days at MSM College in the early 1990s. When Syamala fell ill with cancer and was admitted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, Khadeeja came to came to visit the former on November 21. The hospital is over 40 kilometers away from Khadeeja’s house.
Khadeeja, a caring soul, visited her friend with hope and brought financial aid collected by their college alumni group, “Sneha Theeram,” to help with Syamala’s treatment.
But, things did not go as everyone wished and fate had a cruel twist. After handing over the collected funds, as she was departing from the hospital, Khadeeja suddenly collapsed and died in the hospital. The story did not end there. Hours later, Syamala succumbed to her illness.
Their final journey reflects the profound connection two hearts can share — inseparable in life and death.
