Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh: As Leader of the Opposition, Rahul, along with Priyanka Gandhi and some other Congress leaders, were stopped at the Ghazipur Border on their way to Sambhal. Following the reports of the scheduled visit by the Congress leader, the police had set up heavy barricades at the border region to prevent the Congress leaders from proceeding to the violence-hit region.
As the police prevented the cavalcade at the border, a huge crowd, mainly the Congress supporters, gathered around the leaders’ vehicles. Rahul Gandhi was seen standing atop his vehicle speaking to the reporters while raising the constitution in hand. The Congress workers were heard raising slogans.

On October 24, following the court-ordered survey of a masjid in Sambhal, a protest erupted in the structure’s premises when the survey team, along with members of the Hindutva group who allegedly chanted Jai Shri Ram, The following clash led to the killing of four Muslim youth reportedly amid the police firing.
Since the incident, tensions have persisted in the region, and the authorities have imposed restrictions for outsiders to Sambhal. Earlier, MLAs and MPs from IUML and SP were stopped on their way to the violence-hit area. The opposition has blamed the government for the death of four people, alleging failure in handling the situation. They have also alleged that the ruling BJP government is trying to hide their mistakes by denying entry for outsiders to Sambhal.
