Volvo Cars, the well known Swedish luxury automaker, has announced a groundbreaking shift in its Indian market strategy. By 2030, Volvo will exclusively sell electric vehicles (EVs) in India, discontinuing all petrol and diesel models.
This decision aligns with the company’s vision to lead the rapidly expanding EV market in India. Volvo plans to launch a new EV annually, beginning with EC30 in 2025 and followed by the high-end EC90.

Volvo will introduce a battery passport system detailing the origins and carbon footprint of materials used, strengthening their commitment to sustainability ahead of EU regulations.

Volvo, currently holding a 22-23% share in India’s luxury EV market, aims to expand its presence with the EC30 launch. The increasing number of millionaires and significant market potential position Volvo to lead in sustainable automotive technology by 2030.
