AMUOBA Jeddah's Newly Elected Committee Takes Charge; Consul General Backs Expanded Community Role
Jeddah: The Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) Jeddah chapter formally installed its newly elected Executive Committee at a well-attended ceremony that brought together senior members, former leaders, and distinguished guests of the fraternity on June 21, 2026.
The solemn ceremony opened with a Quranic recitation by Qari Fahad Ayub Zinjani. Dr. Prince Mufti Ziaul Hasan, the newly elected President, delivered his inaugural address and outlined the vision for the association centered on service, unity, professional excellence, and meaningful community engagement. Drawing inspiration from the enduring ideals of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of Aligarh Muslim University, he called for collective efforts to strengthen the association and expand its contribution to society.
The new Executive Committee for the 2026-2028 term includes Dr. Prince Mufti Ziaul Hasan as President, Rabnawaz Khan as Vice President, Athar Rasool as General Secretary, Dr. Mohammad Omaish Ansari as Treasurer, and Mohammed Danish Khan as Joint Secretary. The committee also includes nine Cabinet Members; Abid Hussain Aftab, Adnan Shoeb, Arshad Alam Khan, Dr. Abraar Ahmad, Fahad Afridi, Fahad Ayub Zinjani, Mohammad Imran Siddiqui, Mohammad Manauar, and Wazir Khan.
The proceedings were conducted by General Secretary Athar Rasool, with Election Commissioner Nayyar Mumtaz briefing the gathering on the nomination and election process. Senior Election Commissioner Imtiaz Ahmed shared his experiences and congratulated the newly elected team. Vice President Rabnawaz Khan proposed the vote of thanks.
Just after assuming office, the new AMOUBA leadership team made a courtesy visit to Mr. Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, Consul General of India in Jeddah. The interaction lasted nearly two hours and focused on strengthening ties between the Indian diaspora and India-Saudi Arabia partnership.
The AMUOBA delegation, led by President Dr. Prince Mufti Ziaul Hasan, included General Secretary Athar Rasool, Advisor Engr. Aqeel Jamil, Cabinet members, and senior professionals.
During the meeting, the Consul General encouraged AMUOBA Jeddah to leverage the expertise and global network of the Alig fraternity to contribute to the expanding India-Saudi Arabia partnership. He highlighted several areas where the association could play a meaningful role. “The association’s accomplished academicians, scientists, professionals, and entrepreneurs could play an important role in strengthening bilateral cooperation,” the Consul General noted.
The AMUOBA delegation presented the Executive Committee’s vision and roadmap, which focuses on community welfare, professional networking, youth empowerment, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the contribution of the Indian diaspora.
The Consul General appreciated the association’s constructive vision and assured Consulate’s continued support for initiatives promoting the welfare and development of Indian citizens in the Kingdom. He reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to working closely with AMUOBA Jeddah in advancing community welfare and strengthening the growing India-Saudi Arabia partnership.
