KMCC Set to Launch Investment and Healthcare Schemes for Expatriate Indians in Saudi Arabia
Makkah: The Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), the largest expatriate welfare organization run by Indians in the GCC, has finalized two major schemes aimed at providing financial security and healthcare support to low-income expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia. The announcement came during KMCC’s Saudi Arabia National Committee meeting held here, which was attended by IUML state president Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal. KMCC, an affiliate of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), has been running charity and social welfare programs for decades across the Gulf region.
Investment in Hospitality Venture
The first major initiative is an investment scheme designed specifically to provide a sustainable income stream for expatriates after their retirement. KMCC is developing the scheme to create long-term financial security for low-income expats.
As part of this scheme, KMCC plans to build a new 4-star hotel on its own land in Kozhikode, Kerala. Once finalised, expatriates can invest a minimum of one lakh Indian rupees over a period of one year. This hospitality project will provide returns while enabling common expatriates to build savings and financial stability.
The investment scheme also includes a second component: the establishment of a service sector company with operations across Saudi Arabia, fully compliant with the Kingdom’s legal requirements. Under this company, KMCC plans to open supermarkets and establish catering services for pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah. These ventures are designed to create employment opportunities for expatriates and address the job insecurity many Indians face.
Medicare: Affordable Healthcare Access
The second major initiative is KMCC’s Medicare Family Security Scheme, which aims to make healthcare affordable for expatriates. Under this scheme, KMCC will provide hospital cost discounts ranging from 10 to 50 percent to the family members of more than 86,000 expatriates across hospitals in Kerala.
The scheme is available to members of KMCC’s Family Security program. Currently, 30 hospitals across various districts in Kerala, including several top-tier medical institutions, have joined this initiative. KMCC leadership is actively in talks with more hospitals to expand the network. The scheme provides crucial support to expatriates who often struggle to access affordable healthcare for their families back home in Kerala.
“From its experience working with the expatriate community, KMCC has a clear understanding of the real challenges faced by them. Through these new schemes, KMCC is working to create a comprehensive safety net for low-income expatriates in Saudi Arabia and their families back in India,” said Kundhimon Kakiya, President of KMCC Saudi National Committee.
“These schemes are devised to benefit low-income and common expatriates in Saudi Arabia who face several challenges,” said Nasar Veliancode, National Secretary of KMCC Saudi Arabia.
Other leaders present at the meeting included Ashraf Vengatt (National General Secretary, Saudi KMCC), Khadar Chengala (Chairman), Ahmed Palayatt (Treasurer), Nisam Mampad and Usman Ali Palathingal (Vice Presidents), and Secretary Haris Kallayi.
