Yemen: After Saudi Arabia started military campaign against Houthis in Yemen, supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government, conflict intensified in the West Asia as Houthis are also seeking retaliation across Saudi cities. Saudi has been actively involved in renewed military action as fighting sharply escalates.

Recently, Houthi-linked source claimed that a large  numbers of pro-government militias, backed by Saudi Arabia like the Giants Brigades, reportedly surrendered to Houthis a several places including Khalid Bin Walid Military Camp and fronts in Hays, Al-Mokha, and Taiz.

Houthis forces have captured several strategic provinces such as Hodeidah and Taiz provinces. As per several reports, the pro-government force supported by Saudi Arabia withdrew their units amid heavy fighting.

In a separate incident, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi seized the key Red Sea port of Mokha and advanced towards the Hanish islands, bringing them closer to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The rapid advance has brought the Houthis closer to the narrow maritime gateway linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, potentially giving the group greater leverage over a route critical to global oil and commodity supplies.
