Hamas Demands Five Parties As Guarantor Amid Truce Deal Negotiation

After Qatar announced that Hamas gave a positive response to a truce deal following the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s fifth trip in the region seeking an end to the four-month-long war since October 7, 2023, Hamas today demanded a chosen five parties as a guarantor for the deal with Israel. The parties included Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Russia and the United Nations.

Hamas official Nazzal said, “We do not expect the American president to come up with a better statement. He is totally biased and was part of the war waged on Gaza. He provided the political and legal cover for the Israelis and has supported all of Netanyahu’s moves. They worked hand in hand, providing military and financial assistance. “We expect the US administration to come up with a final decision: Are they willing for the war to continue? Or do they want a permanent ceasefire?”

Noting that the Hamas wants the Israeli killing machine to stop, Nazzal said that none can be compromised. “The Israeli killing machine must be brought to a halt. We wish to see Israeli occupation forces withdraw from the Gaza Strip entirely. Our response is realistic and our demands are reasonable,” he added.

Hamas has also made a three-stage Gaza ceasefire proposal as a result of the mediation efforts by Qatar and Egypt, Al-Jazeera reported. The news portal further said that it accessed the draft proposal by Hamas

As per the proposal, Hamas would release Israeli captives in exchange for the release of 1,500 Palestinian prisoners in Israel. The captives include those who were sentenced to life sentences, besides women, children and the elderly. The draft among others, further includes the demands for the return of the displaced people to their residences along with the free movement between the north and south Gaza and asked Israel to stop storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
