Baghdad, Iraq: The US Embassy in Baghdad has been hit by missiles allegedly fired by an Iranian-backed armed group in Iraq. The attack has caused smoke ‌to ⁠rise from the embassy’s ​building, Reuters reported, citing security sources.

The officials have not provided details on any casualties or damages. The embassy has renewed its Level 4 security alert for Iraq, warning that Iran and Iran-aligned militia groups have previously carried out attacks against US citizens, interests and infrastructure and it might continue.

As the US-Israel continues to hit key Iranian facilities including oil refineries and infrastructures with aerial bombing, there are no signs of de-escalation. Attacks have been reported across Tehran and other cities everyday, causing mounting casualties and damages.

Meanwhile, the Iran has been retaliating, targeting US military bases in the region. Tehran has also used the Strait of Hormuz to put pressure on the US to end attack on its territory.
