Qatar planning and statistics authority released its monthly review of economic aspects. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July 2023, has been termed at 106.87 points which is 0.37 % higher than the CPI of June 2023. As compared to the last year, 2022, a 3.11% high has been registered in the CPI of this month, Qatar News Agency reported on the release.
Comparing the CPI from June to July 2023, corresponding changes can be found, that, there was an increase in five groups, five other groups showed a decreased, and two groups remained without any changes.
The increase was seen in “Recreation and Culture” by 3.52%, “Food and Beverages” by 1.63%, “Communication” by 1.30%, “Transport” by 0.96%, and “Clothing and Footwear” by 0.17%.
A decrease has been registered in “Restaurants and Hotels” by 3.49%, “Miscellaneous Goods and Services” by 1.64%, “Health” by 1.28%, “Housing, Water, Electricity and other Fuel” by 0.70%, and “Furniture and Household Equipment” by 0.13%.
And the group which remained unchanged included “Tobacco” and “Education”; both stayed same as June price level.
The increase from 2022 to 2023 is primarily because of the price increase in eight groups, “Communication” by 15.85%, “Recreation and Culture” by 6.84%, “Housing, Water, Electricity and other Fuel” by 4.49%, “Education” by 4.06%, “Transport” by 2.53%, “Furniture and Household Equipment” by 2.13%, “Food and Beverages” by 1.54%, and “Health” by 0.33%.
Compared to June 2023, the CPI of July 2023 registered an increase after excluding “Housing, Water, Electricity and other Fuel” group at 109.59 point, recording a rise by 0.62%. moreover, compared to July 2022, there is an increase by 2.77% in the CPI of July.
