JD Vance, the running mate of Republican candidate Donald Trump, hit back at Taylor Swift, after the singer endorsed for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Vance said the pop star is “fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans”.
Vance has been at the receiving end of wrath from Swifties – Taylor Swift’s fans – ever since his 2021 interview resurfaced. During the conversation, Vance said the United States is “run by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives”.
The comment angered Swifties, as the singer is a known cat mother. Making her stance clear, Swift signed off her statement announcing her support for Kamala Harris with “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”.
Now, Vance came forward retorting the pointed dig from Swift. “We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans, whether they like her music or are fans of hers or not, are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans”, he said. He made the comment while speaking with Fox News.
“When grocery prices go by 20%, it hurts most Americans. It doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift. When housing prices become unaffordable, it doesn’t affect Taylor Swift or any other billionaire. It does affect middle-class Americans all over our country”, he further added.
In her statement, Taylor Swift said she is voting for Harris “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them”.

Donald Trump also hit at Swift for endorsing Harris. “I was not a Taylor Swift fan… she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace”, Trump told Fox News.
X owner Elon Musk, who started endorsing for Trump tow months back, made a suggestive and inappropriate statement in response to Swift’s endorsement. In his post, which was perceived as both “creepy” and “inappropriate”, Musk said, “Fine Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life”.
Many expressed shock, with one user even suggesting it was a parody account due to the absurdity of the statement. Another user called the comment “cringe,” while others pointed out Musk’s personal issues, mockingly linking the comment to his recent divorce.
