Pakistan: Car Bomb Blast Rocks Islamabad Court Complex, Kills At Least 12

Islamabad, Pakistan: In a suspected suicide bomb blast, a car blast in Pakistan’s Islamabad killed at least 12 people and injured many others. Local media have reported the incident to be a suicide attack. The incident occurred at 12.39 pm local time.

The suspected bomber detonated the device outside the court building as he was trying to enter the court. Officials said that it was a car bomb and the attack happened when the area was typically crowded with hundreds of visitors attending hearings.  No group immediately claimed responsibility.

The blast damaged several vehicles in the court premises. Pakistan security force had recently claimed that they foiled an attempt by militants to take cadets hostage at an army-run college overnight, when a suicide car bomber and five other Pakistani Taliban targeted the facility in a northwestern province.

Amid tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, on Monday, a car blast occurred in Delhi’s Red Fore area, killing at least nine people, with officials suspecting a terrorist attack.
