Pakistan Hands Over Islamabad Airport Management To UAE

Pakistan’s Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions (CCoIGCT), chaired by Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, has approved the transfer of the management of Islamabad International Airport to the UAE under a government-to-government framework agreement.

The decision was taken during the meeting attended by Tariq Bajwa, minister of petroleum and advisor on privatisation, special assistant to the PM, as well as federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries.

A negotiation committee will be headed by the PM’s advisor on privatisation and include representatives from the ministries of defence, finance, law and justice, and privatisation.

The privatisation of the Islamabad port aims to attract foreign investment and to enhance its operational efficiency.
