You Can’t Fool All The People All The Time: Kharge Tells Modi

Edited by Dileep Kumar S

Kishanganj/Katihar (Bihar), April 19: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today told the Prime Minister Narendar Modi that he cannot keep on fooling all the people all the time with lies and false promises.

Addressing public meetings at Kishanganj and Katihar in Bihar today, Kharge told Modi, “you may fool some people some time, you may fool some people all the time, but you cannot keep on fooling all the people all the time”. He was referring to Modi’s promises of all round development and the packages to Bihar, which he never delivered.

The Congress president asked the Prime Minister why he was silent about his leaders, MPs and those of the RSS, including its chief Mohan Bhagwat seeking to change the constitution. He said, while Modi himself claims that the Constitution will not be changed. “But what action has he taken against those asking people to give them 400 seats so that they can change the constitution?” he asked Modi, adding, “why didn’t you throw them out of the party?”

Kharge said, these elections were very important not only for the development and welfare of the common man, but also for saving the constitution and democracy in the country. He said, it is because of the Constitution given to the country by Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar that people have rights, privileges and opportunities.

Asserting that he will defend the constitution till his last breath, he said, he was 82 years old and will keep on fighting for saving and protecting the constitution and democracy in the country.

He said, Modi’s and BJP’s job was only to serve the RSS agenda and keep on abusing the Congress party. He challenged the BJP leaders to quote one single example where any of their leaders had sacrificed his/her life for the freedom and then for defending the unity and integrity of the country.

Kharge said, while the Congress workers went to jail during freedom struggle, the RSS people had taken jobs with the British. Similarly even after independence the Congress leaders like Ms Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had laid down their lives to defend the unity and integrity of the country.

Maintaining that the BJP had done nothing in the ten years of its rule, Kharge pointed out, unemployment was at its peak and so were prices of all essential commodities.

For this, he said, the Congress will fill up 30 lakh vacancies in various government departments. Besides, he added, there will be Right to Apprenticeship where educated youth will get one year apprenticeship/on job training with Rs one lakh immediately after completing their graduation or diploma.

Similarly, he added, for the poor families, one woman each in these families will get Rs one lakh every year.

On social justice, he said, the Congress will carry out the caste census to ensure equitable justice and development.

The Congress president also took a dig at the Bihar Chief Minister for keeping on shifting his political loyalties. “In Bihar there is sometimes a double engine government and sometimes one engine gets off track and then again it gets on the track”, he remarked with sarcasm, while referring to the flip-flops of Bihar Chief Minister.

He also asked about the Rs 1.25 lakh crore package the Prime Minister Modi had promised to Bihar. “What happened to that package?” he asked, while pointing out, it was never given to Bihar.
