Porsche Taycan Priced At Rs 1.67 Crore With Entry-Level RWD

The brand’s website now lists the entry-level Porsche Taycan’s prices. Porsche has verified that the Taycan RWD costs Rs 1.67 crore, that reservations are now being accepted in the nation, and that deliveries have already started. Although the facelifted Taycan’s India prices were announced in July of last year, the four-door EV has only been offered in 4S and Turbo configurations up to this point.

The Taycan RWD, which is priced Rs 87 lakh less than the Turbo and Rs 24 lakh cheaper than the Taycan 4S, has allowed the EV’s pricing range to broaden and made the car more affordable. It should be mentioned that the Taycan is also offered in Turbo S and Turbo GT versions for foreign markets. Porsche hasn’t officially verified their presence in India, though. The Taycan Cross Turismo estate version is also not available to our market.

Porsche has also confirmed that the 89kWh (gross) battery pack, which is less than the 105kWh (gross) battery pack found in the 4S and Turbo that are sold here, will be available with the India-spec Taycan RWD. The WLTP range of the RWD’s battery pack is 503-590 km on a single charge, which is substantially less than the 4S’s 549-642 km range. Please take note that the Taycan RWD is also available in international markets with the Performance Battery Plus version, which has a larger 105kWh battery pack and a range of up to 678km.

In the Taycan RWD, the 89kWh battery drives a single 408hp, 410Nm motor on the rear wheel (hence RWD), unlike the 4S, which gets 517hp (598hp with the Overboost function) and 695Nm of peak torque, courtesy of the dual-motor set-up. Porsche claims a 0-100kph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 230kph for the entry-level Taycan.

The Taycan RWD shares an 800V design with the rest of the range, allowing for fast charging up to 270kW instead of the 320kW that the India-spec 4S and Turbo can achieve. The 89kWh unit could charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes under perfect circumstances. For comparison, with this 270kW charging pace, a 272km range may be added in 10 minutes. The 11kW on-board AC charger that Porsche offers, however, is supposed to take nine hours to fully charge the battery.
