The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT takes “silent but violent” to new extremes. As the most powerful Porsche production car ever made, it packs a stunning 1,100 horsepower, outshining even the Tesla Model S Plaid Track Pack. With an extra 74hp over its rival, the Taycan Turbo GT also bests the Tesla’s Nürburgring lap time by a remarkable 25 seconds, securing its position as the fastest four-door EV and the fastest four-door car overall.

Performance numbers are jaw-dropping: a 0-100 kph sprint in just 2.2 seconds and a 0-200 kph dash in 6.4 seconds. These official figures might even be conservative, as Porsche often underquotes its performance metrics. At the Circuito Monteblanco in Spain, launching the Turbo GT feels like being shot out of a cannon. The twin-motor setup, with a unique rear motor exclusive to this model, allows a maximum current of 900 amperes, boosting power significantly. Standard output is 788hp, but with launch control, it spikes to 1,033hp, peaking at 1,100hp for two seconds.

The Turbo GT’s “Attack Mode,” activated via a steering wheel button or paddle, unleashes this formidable power, shrinking straights and catapulting the car towards corners with magnetic urgency. Unlike other Porsche GT models, the Taycan Turbo GT manages to harness its wild power in a relatively user-friendly manner. You don’t need to be a Nürburgring veteran to enjoy its capabilities, thanks in part to a precise yet forgiving steering setup that boosts driver confidence.

The car’s Active Ride Suspension, a standard feature, plays a critical role in its performance. This air suspension system keeps the car remarkably flat through corners, aided by the low-slung shape and low centre of gravity from the battery placement. The result is insane cornering speeds, making the Turbo GT supercar-fast.

In international markets, the Taycan Turbo GT is priced similarly to the 911 GT3 RS, around Rs 3.5 crore (estimated, ex-showroom) if it were available in India. However, Porsche has no current plans to bring this model to India. Despite its mind-blowing capabilities, the Turbo GT’s extreme performance is arguably excessive for anything but a racetrack. For most, the 884hp Taycan Turbo available in India would be more than sufficient.

The Taycan Turbo GT showcases the heights of electric vehicle engineering, showcasing sensational performance and handling. Yet, in the relentless EV race, new records will continue to be set. For now, Porsche has made its move—your turn, Tesla.
