Skoda Kylaq Speed Testing Ahead Of Debut In November

Introducing the all new Skoda Kylaq, where advanced engineering meets striking design. This compact SUV redefines urban driving with its powerful performance, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable features. Whether you’re navigating city streets or embarking on an adventure, the Kylaq is designed to exceed expectations at every turn. Discover the perfect blend of style, innovation, and versatility. Like the Kushaq and the Slavia, the new subcompact SUV from Skoda will be based on the MQB-A0 IN architecture.

Skoda will be making its foray in the sub-4 metre SUV space early next year with the launch of Kylaq. It was recently revealed that the upcoming crossover will be making its pre-launch debut on November 6 this year. Ahead of its debut, a production-ready model of Kylaq was recently spotted during one of its test runs.

As seen in the image, the latest test mule of the Kylaq is completely wrapped under camouflage. Despite the heavy covering, some visual details of the upcoming subcompact SUV are very prominent. It is clearly visible that the Kylaq takes inspiration from its elder sibling Kushaq.

The details

For starters, it gets Skoda’s signature butterfly grille with vertical slats flanked by a split LED headlamp setup. Like all Skodas, the side profile of the Kylag remains clean and understated. The car appears to ride on 16-inch all-black alloy wheels. The rear end is not visible. Other visual highlights include black roof rails, sunroof, blacked-out pillars, and an upright bonnet.

In terms of features, the Kylaq is expected to come equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument console,  wireless smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, and 360-degree camera to name a few.

Powering the Kylaq will be a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that performs duties on the Kushaq as well as Slavia. This petrol mill kicks out 114 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

To fuel the momentum and strengthen its long-term vision for the market, Škoda Auto is entering its New Era in India with its all-new compact SUV – Škoda Kylaq. The Škoda Kylaq will carry forward the Škoda DNA of superior driving dynamics, uncompromising safety and proven quality.

The name Kylaq signifies Škoda Auto’s deep connect with the country’s ethos and its spirit of exploration and discovery. The new Škoda car is a dependable companion, a perfect fit for a nation on the move, and will open yet another chapter in the brand’s India story.
