Xiaomi SU7 EV Set to Debut in India: A Game-Changer in Electric Mobility

The Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle, known for its impressive acceleration of 0 to 100 kmph in under three seconds and a range of 800 kilometres, is set to be showcased in India on July 9. While Xiaomi has not disclosed any launch plans for India, the SU7 is expected to compete with the BYD Seal. In China, the SU7 starts at around $30,000 (approximately Rs 25 lakh).

Xiaomi SU7: Performance

The Xiaomi SU7 is offered in two versions: rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive. The rear-wheel-drive model features a 400-volt electrical architecture with a rear-mounted HyperEngine V6 super electric motor producing 295 bhp (220 kW) and 400 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.28 seconds. The all-wheel-drive version, based on a more powerful 800-volt architecture, includes dual electric motors generating 664 bhp (495 kW) and 838 Nm of torque, achieving 0 to 100 kmph in 2.78 seconds and a top speed of 265 kmph.

Xiaomi SU7: Battery and Range

The SU7 offers two battery pack options. The entry-level variant has a 73.6 kWh battery with a range of 535 km (based on the CLTC – China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle). The top-tier version boasts a 101 kWh battery, providing a range of 800 km according to the CLTC. Xiaomi plans to introduce larger 132 kWh and 150 kWh batteries in the future, extending the vehicle’s range further.

Thanks to its advanced 486V and 871V architectures, the SU7 supports fast charging. It can charge up to 350 km and 510 km within 15 minutes.

Xiaomi SU7: Technology

The Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The Xiaomi Pilot system, available in Pro and Max variants, includes one LiDAR, 11 HD cameras, and the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin computing platform. This autonomous driving feature supports highway driving, self-parking, and car summoning.

Inside, the cabin features a 16.1-inch 3K central console, a 56-inch HUD head-up display, a 7.1-inch rotating dashboard, and two mounts for tablet devices for rear passengers. The CarIoT Ecosystem allows the SU7 to sync with over 1,000 Xiaomi smart home devices. This enables appliances such as air conditioners or lights to automatically switch on based on the SU7’s location.

The Xiaomi SU7 is set to make a significant impact with its high performance, advanced battery technology, and cutting-edge features, potentially positioning it as a strong contender in India’s burgeoning electric vehicle market.
