From Smartphones To EVs: Xiaomi's 1st Car Arrives In India

Xiaomi’s SU7 EV is their very first car, marking a big entrance into the electric vehicle world. During the launch event, the company’s CEO Lei Jun pledged to deliver top-notch technology, stylish design, and strong performance. They even threw down a challenge to Tesla and other major electric car makers. Here are the details about the SU7 EV – like its size, battery power pack, Price and Range: how far it can go on a single charge and other important features – you’re in the right place.

In just two years, Xiaomi has gone from breaking ground on their factory to rolling out the SU7 EV. It’s hitting the market with a starting price around $29,869, going up to $41.5k for the top-end model . It’s pretty impressive to see a tech company dive into cars, challenging big names like Tesla and BYD.

You can get a good look at it from every angle. The sporty sedan utilizes a completely electric powertrain and is 4,997 mm (195 inches) long with 3,000 mm (117 inches) between the axles. It can be optioned with 19- or 20-inch wheels. Two powertrains have been announced so far – a single-motor/RWD spec with 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) and a dual-motor/AWD spec packing 670+ horsepower (500+ kilowatts). The top speed is capped at 210 km/h (130 mph).

At its first look, I was almost mistook it as Porsche Taycan 4s. On a full charge, this EV can expect up to 800 km of range. It features Xiaomi’s own CTB , Cell-To-Body technology, which integrates the battery pack directly into its body, thus vastly improving rigidity as well as reducing the height for a more spacious cabin. Looks like Xiaomi EV is set to be China’s Porsche.

The EV industry is booming, with almost every major car manufacturer trying to carve out their slice of the market. This week, Xiaomi, a smartphone company, surprised everyone with their first EV, the SU7. It looks like a compelling car with excellent looks and performance to match.

Xiaomi has officially revealed it’s first EV, Xiaomi SU7 (Speed Ultra). The SU7’s batteries will be supplied by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. and BYD Co., while the vehicle is going to be assembled in Beijing at a BAIC Group facility.
