Xiaomi Unveils YU7 SUV To Rival Tesla, To Challenge Established Players Like Tesla

With the formal debut of the YU7, Xiaomi’s first electric SUV, the company will take on long-standing rivals like Tesla.

The YU7 will formally launch in July, according to the company’s announcement. This is Xiaomi’s first SUV and second EV vehicle. Following Xiaomi’s design DNA, the YU7 SUV draws inspiration from the SU7 sedan, the company’s first electric vehicle, which stands out with its aggressive look.

According to CLTC, the Xiaomi YU7 SUV has a range of 835 kilometres, which is more than the Tesla Model Y. Three versions—Standard, Pro, and Max—with four-wheel drive are available.

The YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, 1600 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3000 mm.

Similar to the SU7, the new EV SUV has a halo taillight with ultra-red lighting, waterdrop headlights with integrated air channels, and the biggest clamshell aluminium hood in mass production.

With a drag coefficient of Cd 0.245, the YU7 boasts a class-leading range among sports SUVs, improving its CLTC range by 59 km over pre-optimization data. Lava Orange, Titanium Silver, and Emerald Green are the three colour options for the SUV.

Nappa leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and 100% soft-touch surfaces that are safe for even newborns are all characteristics of the YU7. It is the first mass-market car featuring a HyperVision1.1-meter ultra-wide multimedia screen.

Passengers may operate entertainment and navigation using a remote control panel. Five modular information categories, media controls, time zones, weather updates, navigation, and instrument readouts are all available on the display panel. There is 1,970 litres of storage capacity, power-adjustable back seats, and massage capabilities in the front seats.

Xiaomi’s most recent HyperEngine V6s Plus powers the YU7, generating up to 681 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.23 seconds.

The Xiaomi EV SUV has a range of up to 835 kilometres, which is more than the Tesla Model Y, claims CLTC. There are three different models of the YU7 SUV: Standard, Pro, and Max. The Standard model is the longest-range pure electric SUV with a battery that is less than 100 kWh, with a 96.3 kWh battery that delivers an 835 km range (CLTC).

Ranges of 760 km and 770 km are provided by the four-wheel-drive Pro (96.3 kWh) and Max (101.7 kWh) models, respectively.

With a peak voltage of 897V and a sophisticated 800V silicon carbide platform, all YU7 models can be charged extremely quickly—from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes and 620 kilometres in 15 minutes.
