Tastes of South India With A Touch Of APJ Abdul Kalam's Legacy

The renowned scientist and former Indian President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, is known for his humility and down-to-earth attitude. Even at the time of his presidency between 2002 and 2007, he embraced a modest life and clung to his roots. Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam had been the insignia of South Indian culture as he ate traditional South Indian foods, was entertained with traditional music, and always made himself available to common people.

This made CA Divya Raghavendra Rao and Raghavendra Rao name their restaurant Rameshwaram Cafe in honour of APJ Abdul Kalam”s home town, Rameshwaram. The duo also dedicated the restaurant chain to India’s bellowed president.

Reminiscing about that great soul, the Rameshwaram Cafe welcomes each visitor with warm greetings and their clean, friendly, and efficient services.

Divya has done her post-graduation from IIM Ahmedabad, whereas Raghavendra Rao was a food cart owner. What brought them together was their passion for South Indian foods and their intention to showcase the rich and diverse culinary heritage of South India to the world.

They opened their first outlet in Indiranagar, Bangalore, and as it garnered the tastes of the people with its fresh ingredients, authentic recipes, and hygiene standards, the Rameshwaram Café became an instant hit.

Drawing energy from this success, they opened three more outlets in Bengaluru within a span of two years. The cafe also offers takeout and delivery services for the convenience of customers.

They offer exotic South Indian cousins, such as ghee podi idli, filter coffee, dosa, chutney, and other delicacies, customized with preferences and dietary needs.

Rameswaram Café gradually entered the hearts of the Bangaloreans and became the most profitable QSR chain in the city, with a monthly turnover of 4.5 crore and a faithful clientele.

Rameswaram Café’s success is being attributed to its founder’s vision and passion, and they bring the words of APJ Abudul Kalam,” Dreams are not those that come while we are sleeping, but dreams are those that come when you don”t sleep before fulfilling them,” to fruition.
