Edited by Uzma Parveen

The Common University Education Test Undergraduate (CUET – UG) 2024 last date for applications is tomorrow, on March 26, 2024. Candidates can utilize the last opportunity to register through the official website – https://www.nta.ac.in/ to get admission into around 200 higher education institutions across the country. Reportedly the CUET (UG)-2024 correction window will be open from March 28 and March 29, 2024 (till 11:50 PM).

This year, the CUET (UG) -2024 exam went through multiple changes including the addition of new subjects, a reduction in the number of papers opted for the exam, hybrid mode of the examination and changes in the complexity of the examination pattern. Recently, the UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagdesh Kumar also informed about the inclusion of more than 50 institutions in the list accepting CUET scores which makes the total number over 200. To get detailed information about the changes proposed and included in the upcoming CUET (UG) exam and participating universities and their offered courses, candidates are advised to visit the NTA website – https://www.nta.ac.in/.

CUET is held for Admission to Undergraduate Programmes into Central Universities and Other Participating Universities, Institutions, Organizations, and Autonomous Colleges.

Through a notification, the National Testing Agency said about the inclusion of two new subjects to the CUET (UG) – 2024, following the UGC and CBSE direction to promote skill subjects following the National Education Policy 2020. Candidates who have already submitted their online application form for CUET (UG)-2024 can opt for these courses when the correction window opens. However, the notification asserted that an additional fee would be charged to the candidates to opt for more subjects. This year, students are allowed to write a maximum of six papers, as opposed to the previous requirement of ten. This choice was made because, in the previous year’s test, a very small fraction of students chose to take ten papers.

The NTA will administer the CUET UG 2024 this year from May 15 to May 31, 2024. Students appearing for Class 12 exams in 2024 are also eligible to apply. However, they are required to submit class 12 qualifying documents within a given time frame.

Reportedly, this year NTA will conduct the CUET in a hybrid format to facilitate students appearing from rural areas. The hybrid mode will include an OMR-based pen-and-paper test and a Computer Based Test (CBT). CBT will allow candidates in remote or rural areas of the country to take the exam closer to their homes.

Furthermore, UGC Chairman in an interview has also revealed the moderate difficulty level of questions in the CUET-UG exam, which will reduce students’ reliance on coaching centers.

The exam schedule has not been announced yet. The CUET (UG) 2024, will be conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
