Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon To Head US Education Department

Donald Trump has nominated Linda McMahon, a former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, to lead the US Department of Education. Donald Trump described McMahon as a ‘fierce advocate for Parent’s rights and said that Linda will spearhead the efforts to send back the education to the states.

Trump said in a statement, “As Secretary of Education, Linda will fight tirelessly to expand ‘Choice’ to every State in America and empower parents to make the best Education decisions for their families. … We will send Education BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda will spearhead that effort.”

Linda McMahon entered into US politics after stepping down from the WWE’s Chief Executive position in 2009. In 2010 and 2012, she lost the US Senate seat in Connecticut.

McMahon is a co-chair of Trump’s transition team ahead of his return to the White House in January. McMahon has experience in heading education including two years on the Connecticut Board of Education and 16 years on the board of trustees at Sacred Heart University.

McMahon has made transition team chair in August and donated $814,600 to Trump’s 2024 campaign. She has served in Trump’s cabinet as the administrator of the Small Business Administration from 2017 to 2019. McMohan also chaired American First Action, backing Trump’s reelection campaign.

Linda cofounded the WWE with her husband and has faced lawsuit involving WWE. The law suit alleges that the company allowed the sexual abuse of young boys at the hands of former WWE ring crew chief Melvin Phillips Jr. It alleged that McMohan knew about the abuse but failed to stop it.
