Donald Trump Reiterates Sending Education Back To States; Elon Musk Says 'Good Idea'

Time and again, the newly elected US President Donald Trump has talked about the decentralization of education in America during his rallies during the election. Now, after coming to power, the Republican President has reiterated his stance on education and said that his early move after coming to the administration is to close down the Department of Education in Washington.

The Tesla CEO, Elon Musk agrees to the idea and shares a clip of Trump’s statement to overhaul the education in America on social media ‘X’. Trump asserted his motive to send all the education and education-related work back to the states to allow them to run the education for the children because they are doing much of a better job of it.

“You can’t do worse. We spend 3 times more money on people than any other nation and yet we are at the bottom which is the worst so we can’t do worse. We going to end all education coming out of Washington DC. We are going to close it up at all the buildings and all the places. We are going to send it back to the States”, said the US President.

Notably, the Department of Education was created in 1979 by Jimmy Carter. The move is expected to impact the funding of K-12 schools.

Trump has talked about the plan in Agenda 47 and Project 2025 also. The agenda also talked about the cutting of funding for schools teaching critical race theory and credentialing teachers who ’embrace patriotic values’ and support the way of American life.

During the early stage of his Presidential race, Donald Trump laid out 10 principles for this education policy plans. In summary, these are Trump’s main education policies:

  • To eliminate the Department of Education
  • Cut Federal funding for schools that promote critical race theory
  • To stop transgender girls from playing sports that are designated for boys
  • Cut the number of schoold administrators including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Departments
  • Adopt a ‘Parental Bill of Rights’
  • Implement a voting process to elect principals in schools
  • Allow parents to select public schools for their children
  • Create a credentialing body to certify teachers
  • To work on students in drug involvement
  • Support concealed carry of weapons by teachers
  • Protect the right to pray in schools
  • Reinstate the 1776 Commission to adjust the history curriculum in schools
