Jamia Millia Islamia To Set Up 3 New Departments of Law, Dental, and Medical Sciences

The office of Registrar Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, informed about the creation of three new departments following the order of the Ministry of Education. The University in its notification said that President of India has given her consent to make amendments and additions to Jamia Millia statute 20 to create new departments.

As per the information furnished by Jamia University, three new departments namely the Department of Law under the Faculty of Law, the Department of Dental Sciences, and the Department of Medical Sciences under the Faculty of Dentistry will be set up in the university. These departments can be only established or abolished following statute 20 and each faculty will have a department assigned by the ordinances.

Till now total of 44 departments were there under the different faculties in the university and the addition of these 3 new departments makes the number to total 47. However, new departments can be added from time to time following the decision of the Department of Education, Ministry of Education.

As per the reports, the university has also proposed to open the facility for MBBS courses on its campus. JMI”s former VC announced that JMI has been granted permission to establish a medical college on its campus.

Recently Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) announced the launch of several new self-finance programs in B.Tech and M.Tech from the upcoming academic year 2024-25. Applicants interested in the courses listed must fill out a separate form available on the JMI website. As per the information, Admission to the following B. Tech programs will be based on the final ranking of the candidates in the JEE Mains.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), a central university, has significantly improved its position in the London-based Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings- 2024. The university has been placed at 2nd position in India amongst all institutions assessed by the coveted ranking agency while last year it was at 6th position.
