Jamia Professor Booked For Using Caste Slurs Against Staff Member
The New Delhi Police have booked an associate professor of Jamia Millia Islamia for using caste slurs against an office staff member at the University of Polytechnic. According to reports, the Jamia administration has reportedly refused to receive any complaints from staff members.
A copy of an FIR has resurfaced on social media showing the booking of Dr Riyazuddin, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering Dept, University Polytechnic. As per the FIR copy, the university staff member Ram Phool Meena has accused the Jamia professor of using caste-based slurs – ‘Kamina Meena’, while he was working inside his office.
The university administration allegedly did not respond to the complaint for two days, and even Dr. Riyazudding again threatened Ram Meena for filing the complaint against him, the report copy mentioned.

The FIR has been filed under the provisions of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act), 1989.
Notably, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has come up with UGC (Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2026. The rules apply to all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India aim to stop caste-based discrimination and ensure equal treatment for everyone in colleges and universities.
