Jharkhand Principal Asks Class 10 Girls To Remove Shirts For Writing Messages On Them

In a bizarre case of disciplining students, a principal of a private school in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district ordered 80 girls of class 10 to remove their shirts for writing messages on them. The girls were allegedly forced to return home wearing blazers. Upon the parent’s complaint, the administration has initiated an inquiry on the matter.

The incident reportedly took place in a prestigious school in Digwadih under the Jorapokhar police station area. The parents complained to the DC that class 10 students were celebrating ‘pen day’ by writing messages on each other’s shirts, after completing their exams.

The principal objected to the celebration and asked students to remove their shirts, despite their seeking an apology. All students were sent back home in their blazers without shirts, and the parents complained to the District Commissioner (DC).

DC Madhvi Mishra said several parents have filed complaints against the principal and the administration has set up a committee to investigate the matter. The committee consists of the sub-divisional magistrate, the district education officer, the district social welfare officer, and the sub-divisional police officer. The action would be taken based on the findings of the committee, the DC said.
