Manipur University has postponed all undergraduate and postgraduate exams till further orders a day after students clashed with security forces during their march to Raj Bhavan. However, Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya who is the Governor of Assam with additional charge of Manipur, left Imphal for Guwahati.
During the Student’s March, more than 55 students and security personnel received minor injuries near the Raj Bhavan. The students were demanding the removal of the DGP and security advisor to the state government for their alleged inability to deal with the law and order situation in Manipur, where during the ethnic violence drones and rockets were launched.
The security forces fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesting students who defied the orders and tried to reach the Raj Bhavan and also engaged in stone throwing.

Reportedly, hours after the clash near Raj Bhavan, the governor met 11 student representatives.
No fresh protests or violence were reported from Imphal where curfew was imposed and internet services were also suspended. Security has been tightened in the region with additional forces deployment and barricading to sensitive areas in the state capital.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also said to met with students of Imphal College and Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School and assured them to address the ongoing issue in the state.
