Why CISCE Board Discontinued Compartment Exams And Releasing Topper's List?

The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class 10 and Indian School Certificates (ISC) Class 12 examination results have been announced today, April 30, 2026. Students can check the official websites – cisce.org and results.cisce.org to check their results. The results can also be accessed via the DigiLocker, UMANG App, and other digital platforms.

Notably, CISCE discontinued the ISC class 12 compartment examination starting from 2024. As a result, students who fail one or more subjects in the ISC 2026 results must reappear for the complete ISC board examination in the next session. Online registration for the 2027 ISC exam cycle will open in July-August 2026. This is a significant structural difference from CBSE, which continues to hold the class 12 compartment exams.

Notably, CISCE does not publish an official toppers list for either ICSE Class 10 or ISC Class 12. The board discontinued this practice in recent years, stating that publicly ranking students by aggregate score contributes to academic pressure. In 2024 and 2025, no official merit lists were released with the results. The last merit list was announced in 2023, in which five students jointly ranked 1st, three of them girls. Subject-specific merit certificates may be issued separately for top performers at the subject level.
