
Babarpur Election Results: AAP's Gopal Rai Leads
Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gopal Rai is leading in Babarpur assembly constituency with a vote margin of 21,835 votes. He had secured 63,422 votes. Anil Kumar Vashisht of BJP came second with 41,587 votes. Congress’s Mohammed Ishraq Khan is behind with 7,380 votes.
Along with other 70 constituencies, Babarpur went to polls on February 5. The constituency which is known for its intense electoral battles, witnessed a three-way fight. In the previous assembly elections, Gopail Rai had secured victory over BJP’s Naresh Gaur by a decisive margin of 33,062 votes. In that election, Babarpur had 2,17,243 registered votes with 1,42,736 valid votes were casted.

Gopal Rai is the current minister for environment, forest and wildlife, development and general administration in the Delhi government and a member of the political affairs committee of the AAP.
The Congress party had won three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013. While, the saffron party was only able to win once. After ending the Congress rule in 2013, the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP formed the government in the national capital and further it had completed its second consecutive term (2015 to 2025). The national capital had recorded a voter turnout of 57.70 per cent till 5 pm in the single phase of assembly elections.
Delhi has an electorate of 1.5 crore, with 83.49 lakh male voters and 71.73 lakh female voters. Meanwhile, third gender voters are 1,261 as per the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi.
