The Central Election Committee of Congress has released the first list of party candidates for the ensuing elections to the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand. The first list carries a total of 21 candidates. The first list carries major name like Dr Ajoy Kumar who will be contesting from Jamshedpur East.
INDIA bloc members Congress and the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Saturday reached a deal that both would contest 70 of the 81 assembly seats as elections for the Jharkhand assembly are scheduled for next month.
As per reports, the rest of the 11 seats will be shared between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and left parties. Congress will be contesting in 29 seats this time, two less than last elections.
Meanwhile, RJD, which along with left parties offered 11 seats, is unhappy with the seat sharing arrangement and has expressed its displeasure in public.
The screening committee of congress met today in Delhi in the presence of Congress president, former president and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, former party president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary in charge of organisation KC Venugopal shortlisted these names for 21 constituencies:
