Jharkhand Assembly Elections Date Announced; Check Here

The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly election will be held in two phase. Phase 1 will be conducted on 13th November and Phase 2 on 20th November. The date of counting is on 23rd November. The last date for nomination is October 25 and October 29.

Date of scrutiny of nominations – Oct 3

Last of withdrawal of candidature – Nov 4

Polling date – Nov 20

Counting of votes – Nov 23

The tenure of the Jharkhand assembly will end on January 5, 2025. The ruling JMM-led alliance will aim to get second term, while the BJP-led opposition aims for a come back in the tribal-dominated state.

The ruling JMM is part of the INDIA bloc alliance and the opposition NDA alliance consists of BJP, Janata Dal and all Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU). In the 2019 assembly election, Hemant Soren’s JMM had won 30 seats while the Congress had bagged 16 seats paving way for Soren to be sworn in as Chief minister.

Jharkhand Chief minister Hemant Soren has said that the party would contest in all 81 seats in the upcoming state assembly elections. While speaking after a central committee meeting of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday, Soren had expressed his confidence in the party’s electoral preparedness and asserted that the alliance would regain power in the state.

A delegation from the ECI, led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar on September 24 conducted a thorough review of poll preparedness for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jharkhand at Ranchi, directing central and state enforcement agencies to curb the influence of money power.

Meanwhile, the poll body has also announced the assembly date for 288-seat assembly on 20th November. The term of the Maharashtra assembly will end on November 26. In Maharashtra, the ruling coalition Mahayuti comprising the BJP, the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party will be up against the Maha Vikas Aghadi, the alliance of the Congress and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (NCP-SP) and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT).
