Devendra Singh Bhole, also known as Bhole Singh, is a sitting MP and BJP candidate nominated for Uttar Pradesh’s Akbarpur parliamentary constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He has also served as the Minister of State for Health.

As the BJP declared the first list of its candidates for the general elections on March 3, Devendra Singh retained the BJP ticket in the Akbarpur constituency for the third time. Though Bithoor MLA Abhijeet Singh Sanga, former Fatehpur MLA Vikram Singh, and former MP Anil Shukla Warsi were contenders to the Akbarpur seat, party expressed faith in Devendra Singh again.

Bhole Singh”s political debut was in 1991 as a BJP candidate for Derapur Assembly constituency from Vidhan Sabha election and won. In the 1996 Assembly elections also, he retained the seat. Then, during his second innings at the assembly, he was selected as a Cabinet Minister.

In the 2014 elections, Devendra Singh defeated then BSP candidate Anil Shukla Warsi for a sweeping margin of 2,78,997 votes. Though Samajwadi Party”s (SP) sitting MP Rajaram Pal has also contested in the polls, he relegated to the third position. In the 2019 elections also, Devendra Singh repeated success by defeating BSP”s Nisha Sachan by a margin of 2,75,142 votes. Rajaram Pal who contested under the Congress ticket came third then as well.

In the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Devendra Singh Bhole”s major contender is Rajaram Pal. This time he will be contesting under SP ticket which is a part of Congress led-INDIA alliance. When SP believes Rajaram Pal”s influence among OBC voters will prove beneficial in the election, BJP thinks that Devendra Singh”s popularity, political experience, and work will yield victory again.
