Gokalpur Election Results: AAP's Surendra Kumar Leads

Aam Aadmi Party’s Surendra Kumar is leading with 59,552 votes from Gokalpur assembly constituency. BJP’s Praveen Nimesh came in second by securing 51,555 votes. Congress’s Ishwar Singh fall far behind with 4,592.

For the assembly election, the candidates in the fray were Surendra Kumar from AAP, Praveen Nimesh from BJP, Ishwar Bagri from Indian National Congress and Jagdish Bhagat from NCP.

In the previous assembly election, AAP’s Surendra Kumar won with 88,452 votes, followed by BJP’s Rajneet Singh, who had secured 68,964 votes. Surendra Kumar defeated Rajneet Singh by a margin of 19,488 votes. Delhi had recorded 61.46 per cent voter turnout for the 70 assembly constituencies.

The Congress party had won three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013. While, the saffron party was only able to win once. After ending the Congress rule in 2013, the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP formed the government in the national capital and further it had completed its second consecutive term (2015 to 2025). The national capital had recorded a voter turnout of 57.70 per cent till 5 pm in the single phase of assembly elections.

Delhi has an electorate of 1.5 crore, with 83.49 lakh male voters and 71.73 lakh female voters. Meanwhile, third gender voters are 1,261 as per the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi.
