Kishanganj Election Result 2025: Congress’ Qamrul Hoda Defeats BJP’s Sweety Singh
The Kishanganj Assembly constituency has delivered a dramatic turnaround as the final results overturn early trends. Md. Qamrul Hoda of the Indian National Congress (INC) has won the seat, defeating BJP candidate Sweety Singh by a decisive margin of 12,794 votes.
Qamrul Hoda secured 89,669 votes, while Sweety Singh finished second with 76,875 votes. Despite leading in the initial rounds, Sweety Singh was eventually overtaken as counting progressed and Congress steadily consolidated its vote share.
AIMIM’s Shams Aghaz came in third with 51,370 votes, indicating a significant decline from the party’s earlier strongholds in Seemanchal. Other contenders — including Md. Ishaque Alam (JSP), Pradeep Ravidas (BSP), and Asraf Alam (AAP) — remained far behind in the race.
This result underscores Kishanganj’s reputation as a swing constituency, where early trends often shift by the final rounds. While BJP appeared strong initially, consolidated minority votes and local support networks gave Congress a decisive upper hand.
Qamrul Hoda’s victory is a major boost for the INC in the Seemanchal region, marking an important seat gain in an otherwise highly competitive electoral battle.
