Amour Constituency Result: AIMIM’s Akhtarul Iman Leads Big Against JD(U) And Congress Candidates

The battle for the Amour Assembly seat in Purnia district has concluded with a decisive outcome. Akhtarul Iman of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has secured a landslide victory, reinforcing his strong grassroots influence in one of Bihar’s most politically unpredictable constituencies.

Akhtarul Iman won with 1,00,836 votes, defeating JD(U) candidate Saba Zafar, who secured 61,908 votes, by a huge margin of 38,928 votes. Senior Congress leader Abdul Jalil Mastan finished third with 52,791 votes, unable to close the widening gap as counting progressed.

Other candidates—including Independent Mohd Parvej Alam (4,585 votes), Jan Suraaj Party’s Afaroj (3,802 votes), and AAP’s Md Muntazir Alam (2,310 votes)—trailed significantly behind, reflecting a clear consolidation of votes behind the top three contenders.

This election once again highlights Amour’s distinctive political character. Despite major national parties like JD(U), Congress, BJP, and AAP maintaining their organisational strength in surrounding regions, Amour continues to reward strong local leadership over party identity.

Historically known for unpredictable swings—between Congress, Independents, BJP, and later AIMIM—the seat has reaffirmed AIMIM’s growing relevance in Seemanchal.

Akhtarul Iman’s emphatic win signals sustained voter confidence in his leadership and ensures that Amour remains a crucial bastion for AIMIM in Bihar’s political abode.
