As counting for the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections is underway, BJP-led ruling Mahayuti alliance is leading 222 out of 288 total constituencies, set for a landslide victory against the opposition MVA. The MVA has been leading in 55 seats, as the major regional parties in the state appears to show their supremacy following the recent splits.
Notably, some prominent candidates of the undivided NCP and Shiv Sena has lost the election, while many new comers gained edge in several constituencies. As of now, BJP leader Kalidas Kolambkar has been declared as the Wadala assembly constituency for ninth consecutive term, as counting of the Maharashtra assembly elections is underway. The 70-year-old has been representing Wadala constituency for the past eight consecutive terms and has become the longest-serving MLA from the city.

As the counting nears end, the result has coincided with poll predictions, which foresaw victory for the ruling alliance. The predictions in the recently held Haryana assembly elections had gone quit opposite to what pollsters stated. However, though some inferred an edge for the MVA given the Lok Sabha election result, the poll outcome has proved sweeping victory for the Mahayuti.
