The ‘Invincible’ BJP leader Kalidas Kolambkar has retained Wadala assembly constituency for ninth consecutive term, as counting of the Maharashtra assembly elections is underway. The 70-year-old has been representing Wadala constituency for the past eight consecutive terms and has become the longest-serving MLA from the city.
Over the years since his debut victory in 1990, Kolambkar emerged triumphant from the Wadala on tickets provided by the Congress, the undivided Shiv Sena, and the BJP. He has been a long-term member of the grand old party, becoming its MLA from 2009 to 2019. In 2018, Kolambkar switched to the BJP to contest from his sitting constituency during the 2019 assembly elections.

Speaking about his poll prospects, Khalidas had told that the people of the constituency will not abandon him because he has deep connection with the residents. He had first won the election in 1990, defeating then sitting minister Vilas Sawant due to his grassroot influence, he claimed.
