Bharatiya Janata Party’s Raj Karan Khatri won the Nerela assembly constituency by a margin of 8,596 votes, defeating Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) two-time MLA Sharad Kumar who secured 78,619 votes. According to the Election Commission data, Khatri bagged 87,215 votes.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Sharad Kumar of AAP won in this seat defeating Neel Daman Khatri of BJP by a margin of 17,429, a 10.52 percent of the total votes cast for the seat. AAP had a vote share of 52.06 percent in 2020 in this seat.
In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Kumar won in the seat defeating BJP’s Khatri by a margin of 40,292 votes. AAP had a vote share of 59.97 percent in 2015 in this seat.
A total of seven candidates were in the fray for the Narela Assembly seat in the 2025 Delhi Assembly election: AAP’s Sharad Kumar, ASPKR’s Md Khalid, BJP’s Raj Karan Khatri, CPI-ML’s Anil Kumar Singh , Budiya (IND), Vikas Bhardwaj (IND), Congress’ Aruna.
Over 699 candidates stood for elections in the national capital, with the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress fielding 70 candidates each. The Bharatiya Janata Party had 68 candidates, with two seats for its allies Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).
In the 2020 Assembly polls, AAP secured a massive victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP won 8 seats. The Congress failed to secure any seats in the election.
