'Rahul Gandhi Welcomed Enthusiastically By Lok Dal Workers During Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra': Jairam Ramesh

Taking a swipe at the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), which recently left the INDIA bloc and joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh today said that the Rahul Gandhi received an “enthusiastic welcome” from workers and leaders of Lok Dal. He said that the Rahul Gandhi during the “Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra” this morning was welcomed by the workers and leaders of the original Lok Dal founder Chaudhary Charan Singh.

When the BJP-led central government decided to confer the former Prime Minister the Bharat Ratna award, the RLD’s current chief Jayant Chaudhary praised Prime Minister Modi for honouring his grandfather with India’s highest civilian award. Mr Chaudhary later decided to switch his alliance to NDA.

The Congress secretary in his post on X (formerly Twitter) noted that The RLD may have joined the NDA after attending four meetings of the INDIA coalition in Patna, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi. “This morning, however, the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” and the Rahul Gandhi received an enthusiastic welcome from the workers and leaders of the original LD (Lok Dal) founded by Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh,” the Congress leader wrote, adding that the so much for the “RLD’s pretensions,” suggesting that many RLD workers are no longer with the party.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary had earlier decided to confront the Lok Sabha election together but the decision of the RLD to join the NDA hit a blow to the Akhilesh Yadav.  Akhilesh Yadav has however sealed the alliance with Congress after finishing their seat-sharing talk smoothly. The SP chief has also declared his participation in the ongoing “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra”.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is set to join the “Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yathra” as it resumes today from Aligarh
