In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP’s Pankaj Pushkar of AAP won by defeating BJP’s Rajni Abbi by a margin of 20,647 in the seat. AAP had a vote share of 51.05 percent in 2015 in this seat.

Timarpur assembly constituency falls under the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

The general category seat is situated in the central Delhi district and is one of the 10 assembly segments that make up the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

The triangular contest in the national capital created palpable tension. While AAP and Congress are part of INDIA alliance on national level, the two parties are contesting against each other in Delhi. If BJP won the capital, it would be a huge comeback after 27 years.
