Nagaon (Assam), January 22: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today asked whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will decide as who can visit a temple and who cannot.
Talking to reporters after being stopped by the Assam Police to proceed towards the birthplace of Sri Sri Sankardeva despite having been granted permission earlier, according to a release from the Congress party, he expressed surprise over the local administration’s excuse of law and order situation.
Mr Gandhi pointed out, the local MP and the MLA were allowed to go but he was not allowed. However, he added, he will return again to pay obeisance at the temple.
Mr Gandhi said, he followed the philosophy of Sankardeva who carried everyone along irrespective of their religion, caste or language.
He said, when hate and violence were being spread in the country, Sankardeva’s philosophy was more relevant. He said, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was the Yatra of his philosophy.
Mr Gandhi, accompanied by AICC general secretaries KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh and hundreds of party workers sat on protest dharna with his supporters singing Gandhi Ji’s favourite ‘bhajan’, Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Sabb ko Sabb-matti de Bhagwan.
