'Every FIR Is A Medal': Rahul Gandhi Vows To Continue Protest After Detention Near Jantar Mantar

New Delhi: A day after opposition leaders were detained near the election commission office in Delhi, another protest was carried out by opposition leaders and MPs on Wednesday, October 7. This time, the march from Kerala House to the election commission and Jantar Mantar, demanding the immediate removal of the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Several MPs including Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were forcefully taken by the police from the protest site. On Tuesday, after Rahul Gandhi and several other opposition leaders entered the Akashvani Bhawan premises, barely 200 metres from the poll body office, and asked to be allowed to meet the election commissioners. The police soon removed Gandhi from the premises and put him and others into police vans and buses.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that the party leaders are not worried, vowing that they will continue this agitation until Gyanesh Kumar is removed as CEC and the system is corrected. “How many times have they detained us? How many FIRs have they filed against us?” he asked.
