Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer blockbuster movie Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) to be released in Oman on April 25, sources familiar to the theatre release of the movie in the West Asian country said. Aadujeevitham Oman release was delayed due to the content of the Blessy-directed movie which is about the captivity of a Kerala native in a Saudi Arabian desert by a Bedouin kafeel (sponsor) and his ultimate escape. The movie is based on a novel written by a former Indian expatriate in Bahrain and famous writer Benyamin. The novel, that was released in 2008 had sourced the real life experience of Shukur aka Najeeb, a native of Kerala’s Alappuzha.
The movie was released globally on March 28, except in the Gulf countries like Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman. However, the movie hit the screens later in Qatar and Bahrain. Aadujeevitham was released in UAE along with its global release in the last week of March.
Aadujeevitham, which has reportedly raked in more than Rs 76 crores in India and Rs 140 crores globally, was opened to houseful shows in various parts of the world. The movie is expected to surpass the collection of Manjummel Boys, the all time box office big hitter from Malayalam, in coming weeks. The Eid-Vishu releases in Malayalam, Aavesham and Varshangalkku Shesham, have substantially affected the box office performance of the survival drama which was expecting post-Ramadan jump in certain centres. However, some reports said the movie is still maintaining decent momentum with ticket sales.
”Finally, Aadujeevitham will see the light of the day screen soon in Oman. Though it hasn’t been announced officially, the movie will be released on April 25 and bookings will begin soon. The movie is expected to be released in more than 25 screens in Vox, Star Cinema and Cinepolis,” a source confirmed.
The movie also stars an Oman native Dr Talib Al Balushi, in the role of kafeel, the main villain character of the movie. While speaking at a function organised by an expatriate group in Muscut, Dr Balushi had expressed hope about the release of the movie.
