Actress Shweta Menon Announces Resignation As AMMA Chief During General Body Meeting
Kochi, Kerala: Actress Shweta Menon has announced her resignation as Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) president on Sunday, June 21. The decision to resign from the post was made during AMMA’s general body meeting held today.
The reason for the immediate resignation of Shweta Menon has not yet been officially stated. Actors Shwetha Menon and Kukku Parameswaran scripted history by becoming first leading female figures of the AMMA after actor Mohanlal’s resignation following the explosive Hema committee report last year.

Announcing her resignation, Shweta took the stage and said emotionally that she has no political affiliations, despite attempts to brand her as a BJP member. However, there are reports that senior members of the body are trying to recall Shweta and reach a reconciliation.
Major disputes and dramatic scenes erupted over the approval of the annual report and income-expenditure accounts of the association in the general body meeting held earlier today.
