AMMA’s Stance Is Weak; Allegations Should Be Investigated: Prithviraj

Actor Prithviraj said that the allegations raised based on the Hema Committee report should be investigated, adding that action should be taken if a crime has been committed. He also stated that if the allegations are proven false, action should still be taken.

“It is not for me to decide whether to release the names mentioned in the committee report, and my responsibility doesn’t end just because my name is not on the list,” he said.

He added that AMMA’s (actors’ body) position is weak. “If there is a power group within the movie industry, it should be eradicated. Just because I haven’t experienced it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist,” he said, insisting that those who hold positions must resign when faced with accusations.

Prithviraj also called for AMMA to take a strong stand.

“What is needed is an organisational system where everyone is united, and I hope that it will emerge soon. There should be no boycotts or bans in the cinema industry. My position is that women should be at the helm of every organisation,” he added, emphasizing that he will do everything possible.

“History will record that the correction took place in Malayalam cinema. History will record that in India, the correction happened in Malayalam cinema. We can only hope that the proposed film conclave will also help in solving the problem,” he said.

The Aadujeevitham actor’s comments come as several actresses are coming forward with MeToo revelations against Malayalam actors.
