The official trailer for Sarkeet, directed by Thamar and starring Asif Ali, is out — and it promises an emotional, feel-good cinematic experience.

The film delves into the deep bond of friendship between its central characters, Ameer and Jeffrin, portrayed by Asif Ali and young talent Orhan, respectively.

The narrative centres on Ameer, who finds himself in a precarious position after a series of events lead to a child’s disappearance.

In what seems to be a heartwarming tale of companionship, the trailer teases powerful emotional moments and a strong narrative thread woven around relationships and personal journeys. The film’s background score is composed by Govind Vasantha.

The film also stars Divya Prabha in the lead female role, making this Thamar’s directorial comeback after Aayirathonnu Nunakal.

Produced under the banners of Vinayaka Ajith’s Ajith Vinayaka Films and Florian Dominic’s Action Films, Sarkeet is all set for a global theatrical release on May 8.

Shot entirely across the Gulf, the film captures the urban vibes of UAE regions including Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.

Asif Ali is currently enjoying a strong phase in his career with back-to-back successes like Kishkindha Kaandam (2024), directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, and Rekhachithram, which hit theatres in January 2025 under the direction of Jofin T Chacko.

He will also be seen in Mirage, helmed by Jeethu Joseph and co-starring Aparna Balamurali. In addition, Asif is teaming up with Jis Joy for a new film scripted by the acclaimed duo Bobby and Sanjay.

The film’s visual language is crafted by Director of Photography Aeyaz. Project design is handled by Ranjith Karunakaran, and the editing is overseen by Sangeeth Prathap, with the trailer cut by Mahesh Bhuvanend.

The film benefits from strong supporting roles behind the scenes, with Hashim Sulaiman as co-director, Naveen T Chandrabose as executive producer, and creative contributions from specialists in costume (Irshad Cherukunnu), art direction (Vishvanathan Aravind), makeup (Sudhi Surendran), and sound (Fazal A Backer, Dhanush Nayanar, and Vaishak PV).

The musical tracks, brought to life by singers Shahbaz Aman, Kabil Kabhilan, Electronic Kili, and Govind Vasantha, feature lyrics penned by Anwar Ali and Suhail Koya.
