Asif Ali's Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali Hits Theatres Today

Malayalam cinema welcomes a sharp new voice as Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali, directed by debutant Sethunath Padmakumar, releases in theatres today. Starring Asif Ali in the lead role, the film is a darkly comic take on a man entangled in a troubled second marriage that spirals into legal chaos.

At the heart of the story is Sahadevan (played by Asif Ali), a man whose divorce proceedings turn nightmarish when false allegations of domestic violence and dowry harassment are weaponised against him. As the courtroom drama unfolds, the justice system begins to feel less like a path to resolution and more like a punishment in itself.

Blending satire with emotion, Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali explores how legal tools meant for protection can sometimes be misused, and how ordinary lives are shattered in the process.

The film also features Thulasi, Jagadish, Harisree Ashokan, Anand Manmadhan, and Sidharth Bharathan, with music composed by Bijibal, Muthu, and Christy Joby, and background score by Rahul Raj.

Originally slated for release in April 2025, the film faced multiple delays due to financial disputes and production-related hurdles. After being rescheduled for May and once again held back, the film has now made its theatrical debut.

Shot primarily in Thriprayar, Kerala, the film was wrapped up by October 2024. The music is composed by Bijibal, Muthu, and Christy Joby, with a background score by Rahul Raj. The film is produced by Naisam Salam, with Ajay David Kachappilly as the cinematographer, Sobin K Soman as the editor.  The recently released lyrical video of the song ‘Purusha Lokam’ has already started gaining attention online.

Asif Ali’s transformation into a seemingly ordinary yet layered character has been praised across social platforms, with fans eagerly awaiting its theatrical release.
