During the promotional tour of his upcoming romantic comedy Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, actor Fahadh Faasil gave fans an unexpected treat when he recreated the now-iconic hook step from his blockbuster Aavesham.

The impromptu performance, staged at ST. Teres College in Kochi earlier this week, quickly went viral on social media, sparking a fresh wave of nostalgia for Fahadh’s eccentric character Ranga.

In the viral clip, Fahadh can be seen grooving to the familiar beats with the same effortless energy that made Ranga a cultural phenomenon in 2024.

Students erupted in cheers as the actor danced, while co-star Kalyani Priyadarshan clapped and laughed along in admiration. The dance reminds audiences of the unique charm that made Aavesham one of the defining Malayalam films of recent years.

The event, organised as part of the film’s promotional campaign, turned into a full-fledged celebration. Alongside Fahadh and Kalyani, the occasion was attended by director Althaf Salim, producer Ashiq Usman, actress Revathi Pillai, and other cast members.

Adding to the charm, Kalyani Priyadarshan described the upcoming film in a witty line during her interaction with students: Basically, if a Korean rom-com story is narrated satirically in a Woody Allen or Wes Anderson style, how would that be — that is Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira.”

Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira (transl. Horse Runs, Horse Jumps), also marketed with the quirky English title Who Let the Horse Out?, is one of Malayalam cinema’s most anticipated films of 2025.

Written and directed by Althaf Salim, the film blends the whimsical elements of Korean dramas with satirical humour, crafted in a distinctly offbeat style.

The story follows Aby (played by Fahadh Faasil), a man left jilted at his wedding, who crosses paths with Nidhi (Kalyani Priyadarshan), a reserved woman navigating her struggles.

As their bond deepens, Aby’s past resurfaces in unexpected ways when his ex returns, carrying revelations that force him to confront hidden truths.

The ensemble cast includes Revathi Pillai, Lal, Vinay Forrt, Noby Marcose, Anuraj O. B., and several other familiar faces from the Malayalam industry. The film’s music is composed by Justin Varghese, whose soundtrack is expected to carry the same playful yet soulful vibe as the narrative.

The film is produced by Ashiq Usman under Ashiq Usman Productions, with principal photography beginning in Ernakulam in April 2024 and later moving across Chennai and Bengaluru. Notably, portions were shot at Whitefield’s Delhi Public School and Nexus Shantiniketan Mall.

The makers have confirmed that Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira will hit theatres on 29 August 2025, aligning with the Onam festival.
