
"Fahadh Faasil Was Paid Only This Much For Chaappa Kurishu," Recalls Listin Stephen
Mollywood film producer Listin Stephen has revealed how much Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil was paid when he acted in Chaappa Kurishu (2011).
Speaking at a recent event, Listin Stephen said Fahadh Faasil never demanded an advance remuneration at the time and was later paid only ₹1 lakh for the role.
“Back then, he just asked for one lakh rupees. Today, even if I am ready to pay him crores, his dates are not easily available. That’s how much he has grown as an actor,” Stephen said, drawing applause from the audience.
Abdul Hameed Mohammed Fahad Fazil (born 8 August 1982), professionally known as Fahadh Faasil, is now highly regarded for his versatility and diverse portrayals. Fahadh is today counted among the highest-paid and most popular Malayalam actors.

He has received numerous accolades, including one National Film Award, four Kerala State Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards South.
Born to veteran filmmaker Fazil, Fahadh entered cinema at the age of 20 with Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), which failed commercially. After a seven-year break, he made a comeback with Kerala Cafe (2009) and later gained attention with Chaappa Kurishu (2011) — the very film for which he accepted just ₹1 lakh.
Over the years, Fahadh delivered critically acclaimed performances in films such as 22 Female Kottayam (2012), Diamond Necklace (2012), North 24 Kaatham (2013), Bangalore Days (2014), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016), Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (2017), Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Malik (2021), Vikram (2022) and Aavesham (2024).
His ability to portray complex, layered characters has made him one of the most respected actors in Indian cinema.

Fahadh is married to actress Nazriya Nazim, with whom he co-owns the production banner Fahadh Faasil and Friends. He is also a co-founder of Bhavana Studios, alongside filmmaker Dileesh Pothan and writer Syam Pushkaran. He is currently promoting his upcoming film Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira by Althaf Salim.
